Trouble with the Gixxer

Postby Black Magic » Sat Jun 28, 2008 8:28 am

Just over 5000kms on the clock and it looks like the Gixxer is going back to the dealership on Monday!

Started it up yesterday and the usual array of warning lights lit up the instrument panel. About 1km down the road I noticed that I still had the oil pressure warning light on, and my fuel injection warning indicator was flashing alternately with my coolant temp display.

Pulled into a servo- oil and coolant levels seem fine. :?

Got home, pulled out my manual and find there is a specific paragraph for just that particular problem!.......

"If the display indicates "FI" and the coolant temp alternately, and the red light comes on and remains lit, keep the engine running and bring your motorcycle to an authorized Suzuki dealer."

(Yes, I memorised my manual the day of purchasing the bike and when I saw that particular combination of warnings displayed I did not turn my bike off and rode to my local dealer at 5am! )

NOT!!!!!!

Can anyone give me a heads up before Monday??? No riding for me this weekend, on holidays too! :(

maybe it is having a problem with the alternater and its not charging, so it say go to the dealer as it may not start again if you stop it. :?

sounds weird... be interested to hear what the problem is.

It might have just had a microsoft style glitch  . Try restarting it a few times and see if this clears it. If not, then you should "Trade it in!!!"

Thanks Marty- brilliant advice! (It actually did work! 8) )

No warnings lights now. Very weird, and makes me a little unsettled about the bike.

I will get it checked at the 6000km service if it doesn't happen again in the meantime.

How much you reckon I'd get trading it on a new ZX6??
