Second Gear Gone - Found the problem

Postby MadHatter » Wed Jan 05, 2005 2:14 pm

Just thought id let ya know I finally found a manual for my b4 zx9r and took it apart to find the problem. (wouldn't shift into second gear)

Ended up with the engine on a workbench and decided we had to split the crankcase to find the problem, It seemed to be the shift drum had a groove worn into it and the selector fork that used that groove was worn.
Also looks like its spun a bearing in there at one stage
I ordered the parts from kwaka last week and they told me today that they are now on 'backorder' and it will be weeks before i can pick them up.. and they tried to charge me 384 bucks JUST for the friction plates in the clutch, no steels.. INSANE! I found aftermarket replacement for $100 :D

Anyway the manual is in the manual place now if anyone ever needs it again

Bummer! I know the feeling, mine is in pieces on the workbench at the moment waiting for the crankcase to be split. How much are they charging for new parts? I'm getting a 2nd hand box from a wrecker in Melbourne, did you check out any 2nd hand stuff?

Not so bad. But they have to be sent here from somewhere.
