I'm picking up bad vibrations!

Mon Mar 10, 2008 1:22 pm

My ZRX1200R's handle bars vibrate and as I have lost a finger on my right hand and I have what feels like an exposed nerve (like having three funny bones) and this causes my fingers to go numb, it is obviously not bad vibration as my left hand is fine.

I did a search without success. Any ideas? I wouldn't mind the handlebars and inch or so higher anyway.

Mate a fatbar conversion may help, or a braced bar with some good mounts, and heavier barends (stainless), other than that mate, not much can be done.

Try Austreetfighter for bar options.

Some of the Hornet guys on the US Hornet forum have reported the same sort of thing. The ways of fixing the problem are many and varied, some change to Renthals and this seems to change the resonant frequency of the bars. Some fill their bars with various expanding foam pressure-can stuff, some change the bar ends, some change the grips (some do them all). Eventually they get to a point where they have abated enough for them to live with 8).

May be an idea to try some of them, starting with the cheaper options :).

This may sound like a stupid question (so please forgive me) but have you considered different gloves? My winter gloves with padding in the palms are really comfy and you can hardly feel any vibes at all, so I'm wondering if you can get gel-palmed ones for summer.

mick,

i have noticed the vibe through the bars as well, i got a set of scotts solid mount bar cones and they have cut it down a little and provide more feedback to whats happening in the front end. It still use the stock bars/grips etc

The bars are mounted using rubber cones that can warp and loose their integrity over time.

check this page out, scroll down about halfway for the bar cones.... HTH
