You prob have discussed this topic many times before... so sorry if its a repeat

Currently use lube.. but wanting to hear form wax users....
How hard is it to apply and how often do you hav 2 reapply it?

I guess we are talking...chains??

Chain wax contains lubricants (makes it ...ummm oily)
and chain lubes contain waxes (makes 'em stick)

not being funny...but isn't it all to do with what
the makers stick on the can

I'm with the old wise one on this ... I don't think there's usually a lot of difference (although I have a vague recollection of seeing a dry wax product). I use Maxima chain wax, but have previously used Motul chain lube to similar effect.

The only one I have found that doesn't fling is Belray in the white can, but Ill be fooked if I can find it to purchase it again..

I use Maxima Chain Wax as well, mainly because every other product I have used flings all over the damn place and I got sick of cleaning the shit off my rims .

Just make sure you use it often and liberally, especially in winter.

Well damn I was thinking bikini lines

I believe Stace has a preferre bum lube, not sure if he uses it on the chain as well, have to ask Groggles I guess

hi Poss

it is my experience that really there is not much difference between what some call chain lubes
and what others call chain wax.

And when i say chain wax..i am not talking the old style 'melt the chain in a can on the stove' wax
but the newer spray 'in can' stuff

Some chain lubes stick well to the chain and lube it well and some don't..they end up on ya wheel or mudguard
and the same with waxes...some stick and some don''t


as I said before, in some instances the only difference is what is printed on the can

he would have but amazingly somehow I got in first Bet he's dissapointed too, not living up to his post whore status at all

I've found that the Maxima Chain Wax doesn't collect as much crap on the chain as say the Motul Chain Lube I was using before it because it isn't as sticky a surface on the chain. It also didn't fling off as much and was easier to clean up.

best ever chain lube would have to be Bel-Ray

Lanotecs heavy duty lanolin spray doesn't fling. It's very thin when you spray it on, but the next day it's sort of waxy. Not sure how good it is at lubing the sprockets and roller, but it should certainly do a good job of protecting the o-rings.

if you take the time to clean your chain thoroughly every 2 weeks and re apply


it doesn't matter what you use. Just remember its the maintanance that counts, Motul, Belray, motorex, all the same crap, they all stick and all fling, and all collect dirt.

Get a good chain clean product too.
