WTF has happened to my Pilot Power's?

My rear Pilot Power has had a small crease looking line (can feel the indentation with your finger-nail) for the past 3000km.
Originally I thought that I had spun my tyre up on a sharp stone but it has stayed that way for a while now & it isn't a straight line (confirms it wasn't caused by wheelspin).
I haven't cared much about it (my rear tyres don't last that long anyway) until I recently noticed the front has done the same!
I sent an online message to Michelin Australia, over 3 weeks ago & haven't heard squat from them... :x

Rear - The crease is on the right (1 o'clock):

Front - The crease is on the left (11 o'clock):

Does anyone know what has happened or anyone who works for Michelin in Melbourne?
I am seriously considering going back to Bridgestone, as this is the first set of Michelin's I've had & my rear is needing to be replaced pretty soon... :(
Oh & they are not the Spanish made ones that were recalled some months back. ;)

Daz.

I've seen that on Power's before, and I think on some other brands too. Not sure what causes it though...

From another board. Brand new Triumph, month old, less than 1600km, apparently no burnouts or abuse and Michelin (USA) said FU.

(This one was made in Spain)

deafwish, there's nothing wrong with your tyre.
It's an anti static strip that michelin build into the tyre, I asked the Michelin rep about it when i worked at the bike shop.

So don't worry about it :D

To discharge the Flux Capacitor?

I have a Pilot Road 2 on the rear of the Beemer (and just fitted one to the 9 also) and it has the exact same thing on it. I have also seen them on other bikes with powers. It appears not to effect anything in terms of grip, handling or tyre life! 8)

Mick you are so on to it - with out this the static build up within the Flux capacitor would negatively effect the polarizer and definitely cause major problems. I am glad to see the tyre manufacturers have finally recognized this and catered for this discrepency so often found on Ducati's - commonly reffered to as electrical faults - but we know better don't we ;)

Do you think that this crease or the 'ASS' as it is now known.... have any adverse effects on the performance gained from tank foam?

Put the Corsa 3 on the rear today .. Was a little concerned with the original D.C tearing up but didn't get any worse from when I first noticed to nude..Still gripped well just didn't last long .. Bout $45 dearer than a p/power but after looking at the USA Trumpy pic above..worth every cent.(anti static strip???????)

D C Steerer still fine..

Soundguy stuck some diablo's on his 10, and it the track day at EC, you could see 2 distinct lines up each side similar to the pilot power lines.

seemed to be where the compound changes. when tyre was clean and nicely scrubbed it was quite noticable to the eye.

as with the PP, i dont think it causes and probs. that trumpy pic probly got a bad tyre, or a puncture.

What do you mean Mr. Michelin that you won't warrant my rear tyre????
Mr. Rider, were you aware, that running your pilot powers at 10psi for 20 mins at 260 kph can compromise it's integrity???
What do you mean by integrity Mr. Michelin????

Like load of people we see at the local haunts, a lot forget that tyres actually need air in them!!!!

I remember a mate complaining about his new R1 handling like shit! I checked the tyre pressures and found 12 in the front and 16 in the rear!!!!!!!

Too true, and I've found the old dungers inner tube tyres need checking a lot more often than modern ones do too. I'd been a bit slack lately and had noticed it was moving around a lot....18 psi was a good reason for that
