I've got a petcock on my 250 that has a fuel outlet on it that was once pressure fitted into the main petcock casting. However the little lug that kept the outlet from rotating has since snapped off, and the thing has moved and now has come out. I can press it back in, and it stays there, except for the minor detail of when i do anything, it rotates and fuel seeps out in varying quantities.

i was thinking of taking the sucker totally apart, cleaning it down to the bare metal with carby cleaner, roughing both surfaces with some sandpaper and gluing them together. So what are my options glue wise? the two that come to mine are cyno acrelate (sp= who gives a damned, its superglue), epoxy resin. Anything else i can think of would eventually be destroyed by the petrol. is the same fate pssible for the first two glues? also, Is there an option #3?

J B Weld is meant to be resistant to petrol, as long as the surfaces are clean of petrol when you are sticking them together. Pretty tough stuff too.

Now to scam some of the stuff off my neighbour *grin*.

though im still interested if anyone has any alternate ideas.

If you can find any, Devcon is worth a nudge. Its an aluminium-based epoxy resin, and has 1001 uses in petrol motors......

Good gear that. 'Specially in alternator covers, but it needs a reasonable thickness to have any strength, so probably not ideal for the job at hand.

dodgey mechanics use it to reco heads ............but it is a good fill product
