Ok my chain seems to be ok (i think) i just adjusted it after buying the bike as it was quite loose.
Dont think its stretched the sprockets are fine the bike has only done 4000ks any ideas what might be causing this?
Any help or ideas really appreciated! :D

ummm was this before or after the chain adjustment??

have u changed things like air filter or exhuast?? cos if u have, that may affect the idle a little...

most bikes these days dont like to chug around without the revs being kept up a bit...

Depending on use and time sitting etc., a chain can very early in it's life develop one or two tight spots. ie; the chain has stretched, but not as much in one or more parts of the chain. This can somewhat cause this surging feeling. Maybe just......"Trade it in"! ;)

Ok ill check out the stretching thang, did not seem to surge really b4 the tighten up.
Might try backing it off a fraction though the tension is right on the money according to the service manual.
As for selling it ive had it less than a week! Hmmmm.... naw the girl would kill me :D :D

maybe its either adjusted too tight (sounds like it) or if it has tight spots, u have adjusted it at a loose spot.. if u have a rear stand put it up and turn the wheel to see how it runs...

if u dont have a stand, pul the bike over on the side stand and get a mate to turn the wheel..listen for any tight spots ..

new chains stretch a fair bit- mine on my zed has been adjusted abt 15 times..and its only 3000km old!!

the 1st 1000km or so it was adjusted everytime i rode it more than 10km!!

Did you check the tension in several spots ? Sometimes a chain with a tight-spot will not show any problems - the best way is to check the tension as per normal, then rotate the back wheel 1/4 turn and check tension again - Repeat this process until the whole chain has done a complete revolution. If you don't find any tight spots, its time for a carbie balance as PM666 says - also, you may find that your jetting may need a spot of tuning - Surging on a constant throttle is a sign of a lean mixture. Sometimes all you need to do is lift the needles a notch, and that will fix it.
