So I am thinking of purchasing some rearsets. Which ones and do thay make a noticable difference. I mainly street ride with the occasional track day. i am looking at a Sato set. Will it be worth the investment.

Sato are pretty costly, I got a set of adjustable Vortex rearsets from the states for about $400.
There probly cheaper now.

Theres plenty on e-bay for under $300.
Theres some out of Thailand that look OK and are damn cheap but I couldn't comment on there quality...

Are you happy with the Vortex Quality and does it make a big difference.

Yeh the vortex ones are fine. They are adjustable from stock position to 25mm up and 25mm back with a about 3 positions between.
I have mine in the middle.
Unless your going to the track and pushing it you don't really need them. They do look good though..
Although Nick has rearsets on his zx6r and still scrapes em at the track...
I got em after busting the right rearset and these cost about the same as the 1 side original Kawi rearset.

I have Valter Moto rearsets on my zxr750r race bike, and had roby moto rearsets on my old zx9r race bike, both are fine but were not adjustable and probly a little uncomfortable for a lot of road use...

I got a set of the cheap Thailand, cost me just under $100 posted.

They were a pig to fit as they are "generic", you order by the distance between the bolt holes on the standard rearsets. I also had to alter the way the gear selecter bar fitted and rig up a spring onto the rear brake lever.

I chose this option as they are for the track bike and I know at some point I'm gonna bin it and have to buy more. Cheap is therefore disposable. It would be better to have something more adjustable, and I may go that route when I have to replace if I am more confident on the track.

I don't see the need for them on the road. I have never scraped a peg on the road, but did several time on my second ever trackday. For long periods on the road the higher foot position might become uncomfortable, but it's necessary on the track. Maybe get a cheap set to throw on for the track and keep the standard gear for the road?

i just fitted a set of vortex rearsets to my my 05 zx6 last night.
i got them delivered off ebay out of USA for $460 took about 1 week to get here.
they cost over $700 locally

havent ridden it yet as it was about 11pm when i finished putting em on.

im pretty happy with the quality of them.
Ive fitted valtermoto and woodcraft rearsets to other bikes before and i reckon these vortex ones seem like better quality to me.

Sorry to cut in on this thread, but what exactly is the purpose of an adjustable rearset ?

its adjustable to suit a different range of riders - rider height, leg, that sort of thing. Fixed rearsets can be OK on a race-bike, because you are generally only doing short stints on the track anyway..............but for longer distance riding (even commuting), being able to adjust your rearsets on a streetbike can be really handy........of course the reason you run with rearsets in the first place is because you will already be dragging the standard footpegs on the deck...........and if you aren't, then fitting rearsets is a bit of a waste of money - but they do look better than most stock pegs, so its not a total waste !!
