Hey guys,

check out what happened to my rear brake lever, when i was bleeding the brake...

pretty much, i was pumping the brake to bleed it, then when i was holding the brake to tighten the bleed nipple, it just snapped...

now my questions to you guys are:
1) what are the chances of kawasaki doing somethin about this (i.e. replacing it for free), considering it snapped with only a bit pressure from my right arm... PS: I dont know if its still under warranty, as its an 05 model, and the previous owner (bikes 2nd owner) didnt get the warranty details when he bought the bike..
2) if kawasaki dont do anything, what would be the cost of a new rearset??
3) is it worth me getting totally new adjustable rearsets (another brand)??

Seconded. I'd use stronger language to describe them though. Easy solution is to not buy another new Kawasaki again. Been looking at the ER6F and the KLX250 recently but can't bring myself to buy another new Kwaka coz I know you are on your own warranty-wise.

portaz you must work out man thats a bummer, its only a guess that it will be expensive.
Take it to your dealer & explain.... if there is no damage that would show it was dropped then I would think you would have half a chance?
Im not familiar with the dealings some of you have had with KA but it does not sound good

My Guess would be it had a minor fall on that side and cracked......doesn't take a lot to break them. I have a spare floating around here somewhere I think........pay me what it cost an postage and its yours, Only catch is its complete with the foot peg , rear caliper, brake lines and rear master cylinder, so it may work out cheaper for you to just get the new bracket, I think they are about $150 to $200 from Big k

thats a bit odd - but castings can and do fracture (as your picture proves), its odd that it has lasted a couple of thousand cycles with normal pressure from a foot, but one bit of pressure from the hand, and *whammo* its fucked....

A replacement rearset from Kawasaki Oz would cost at least a couple of hundred bucks.... Maybe better to get a set of rearsets I reckon - W4U rearsets are a bit under $500......you might be lucky and source a second-hand one at the wreckers or here.

Personally, I would take this as a sign from A Higher Being, that its time to buy some rearsets !!

I have snapped a peg hanger before it cost 140 bucks for a new one.

I have also snapped of at least 4 foot pegs at 90 bucks a piece.

You could always do a dodgy and get it welded... At least that might give you time until you sort out a more permanent solution. Thats what I did when I broke mine although 5000k's later I still haven't got a more permanent solution.

i reckon they'll tell ya to piss of. Kwaka will put it down to wear and tear (so to speak)

a set of aftermarket rearsets are cool, but abt $400 or more...and sum require a lot of rooting around to fit...

Not everyone has had bad dealings with Kawasaki Warranty, and for something that's only a couple of hundred it'll depend on the dealer you see more than Kawasaki Australia anyway. I'm on my second replacement tail section thanks to the efforts of my local dealer, and they replaced two other small panels at the back too, all under warranty.

The only way you can find out is ask. Be honest with them and see it they'll help you out. If they won't then you can look at the cost of a replacement with stock or aftermarket.

it concerns me that most of you guys have had negative dealings with Kawasaki regarding warranty, im looking into buy a kwaka and its stories like this that worry me, are all dealers like this?

have just spoken to kawasaki, and my bike is just out of warranty....

looks like i will be purchasing a new set of rearsets, unless i can find an original set for cheap...

This is why God invented Motorcycle Wreckers and TIG welders.

spoke to victorian motorcycle wreckers in heidelberg, and they have both the brake lever, and bracket for $130...

however, Im going to enquire at a few places to see if someone can weld it...
