Postby portaz » Wed Apr 04, 2007 4:02 pm

Hello guys and girls,

I am thinking of organising an exhaust group buy. Date of purchase is hopefully around mid april.

if anyone is interested, please post up what kind of exhaust they are after, and i will keep the list updated. I have a couple places in mind to hit up for pricing once we have numbers.

Please include the following details in the post:
1) what exhaust
2) brand, year and model of bike
3) state

Ill get things started.

1) portaz...........akrapovic slip on..........kawa 2005 zx6r (zx636)..........VIC

cheers,

Daniel

I'm after some Megacycles for the ZZR600, 1996 model and I can get em brand spanking for $550 from Megacycle themselves in Vic, installled so reckon you might have a hard time beating that with a group buy.

But yeah, slap me down, no harm in trying :D

wont be able to get you megacycle, as none of the guys overseas sell em....

so your best bet is going straight to megacycle...

sorry mate...

good luck with the group buy mate, I am not sure how you will go with getting a better deal from the Yanks than people can get on an individual basis ?? They sell systems direct from e-bay for half of the cost of what you pay here in a bike shop. :?

Its worth a shot I suppose.........

im definately interested but im thinking that if were buying from the US we gotta act quick cause the exchange rate is pretty good right now and will probbaly drop soon.

I dont know much about economies etc i just figure its not going to stay this good for long.

Just for info, you only pay duty on items that are imported with a value of >$1000 (I think thats USD, but stand to be corrected on that).

So if you do a group buy of 10 pipes from the US and it comes in at say $2400 bucks, you will get stung a shitload for customs duty for 1 order of $2400. It might also be a bit difficult to get the supplier to split 10 systems in a group buy..... :?

The trick is to buy a full exhaust, and have it shipped in 2 boxes, each box having a total value of <$1k, then you won't get stung. Some US wholesalers will do this no worries, others won't. Make sure you have good e-mail contact with your suppliers, it helps a lot.

Well I ended up getting a price from a mob on ebay that I bought my leather suit from, and they were willing to do me a deal as a return customer.... they can do it for $510US shipped to Australia

I ended up going for a two bro's exhaust, but im sure that they will still do the price for anyone I refer to them....

let me know if anyone wants to go ahead.....

Just out of interest portaz, is that an "End-can" or "Complete system" :?:

I know ZRX specific parts are getting cheap since they were discontinued  .

Just a thought, why not contact one of the Australian made systems like formula-1 to see what they can do if you organise a large quantity purchase?
