What could my drama be?

On the weekend I put a ZX10R shock into my Z1000. While it was still out of the bike I tried to adjust the preload to leave about 14mm of thread showing, it had about 20mm showing. Not having a C spanner I did the best I could but it seemed to be tigtening up on the thread after only half a turn. I went ahead and put in in thinking if it was supported both ends it would be easier to adjust. I borrowed a C spanner and expected to be done in 5 minutes. This was not the case and the only movement I can get out of it is forward and backwards half a turn, did I mention this pissed me right off. Don't now if the alloys binding or what, the thread seems to be fine.

mmmmm might be that it has been on the same setting for so long that it is binding on the thread.... would need to get in the vice for more access & to spin the locking nuts back & forth to clear the thread.
Sounds like a quick trip to the LBS if you cant move them yourself
