My Z is in need of a new chain.
whats one worth these days? what price should i be looking for?
its a 525.
will probably change a front sprocket only.
not sure if its worth my while doing the 520 conversion. im happy with the standard gearing, and not sure if the extra cost of sprockets are worth it.
any ideas on costs??

probably around the $130 mark for the chain and $15 - $20 for the sprocket.
Unless you're racing it then it ain't worth going the 520 option

And it's worth changing the rear sprocket as well if you wnat any life out of the new chain. As for what a chain is worth, basically invaluable if you have a chain driven bike, can't g far (except downhill) without one

What Mick said, change both sprockets when you put a new chain on.
I've paid a lot more for chains, excessive wheelie action seems to chow through the cheaper ones at a stupid rate, some have been rooted after 5-6000k despite religious oiling!

The Z1000 must be pulling at least 140 donkeys, is a lot through a few links of metal. Well spent cash and only happens every 20,000 if you lube it and don't play mono games.

mate the rear sprocket is only an extra $50...put one on it...
the 520 pitch while lighter and more nimble, and gr8 for racing, chew thru REAL quick....
DONT get alloy and dont go thinner (520)...otherwise ull be changing it in 6 months or less...

I will never buy one of those chains again.
It has that stupid connecting link circlip thingo that is prone to flying off.
Just my opinion.
