My Z1000's battery has sh1t itself and will no longer hold charge.
Clearly I need a new one, but where the hell do I get one from?
Is it best to go to a bike shop, Repco or go to the manufacturer?
What sort of cash am I looking at?
Has anyone with a Power Commander noticed that it drains the battery, when left stationary? :?

This is the battery I need:

Any decent battery shop should be able to help, Battery World is a good place to get batteries. Repco ? probably not, they mainly stock car-stuff only. You could get one from a bike-shop, they may have to order it in if they aren't a dealer.......

Bike batteries are around the same and like anything you get what you pay for.....so if you get $45 made in korea it may not be as good as $100 sealed special made in aus.

The battery you have there is a premium "top of the range" type dealy... Just be aware that if you replace it with a cheaper chinese one, you may not get the same life out of it.

I'd also recommend getting a maintenence charger which will alleviate any current draw from the power commander. :?

mate the gen honda one for me was gunna be $300..or $200 at Batt World..
we found a Marshall battery which fit, has the same CCA etc and cost $60... will be interesting to see how long it lasts..

i dont use a trickle charger (bit hard where i live) but i ride it every day or every few days...

Got a new one through work.
Maintainance free, sealed battery. The destributor reckons they are exceptional quality and best of all..........
It was $32! :-)

Gotta loooove the trade discounts!

Good price. Surprising though the size of the battery- 9 amp hour. My 250 Spada runs an 8 amp hour and my GN250 runs an 11. Lots more electronics in the Z1000. (injected and headlights on all the time) Guess Kawasaki was trying to save weight and maybe sell more batteries?
