 If you havn't already guessed guys n gals, I've blown a seal!
Rode over to a mate's for lunch yesterday and while stopped at a set of lights happened to peak down and spot a smear of oil on the chrome slider. I had a look when I stopped for lunch. It's only just started to go with only an oily residue starting to creap down the fork leg about an inch. No oil flow as yet! So cool.

The legs are a little scuffed up to, so I am thinking it will need new fork bushes as well. I s'pose with 70,000k's somethings are bound to wear out. 50,000 easy K's then 20,000 at a good flogging has taken it's toll!

I have booked it in with Tm performance (Trevor Manly, the guy who does all my race stuff) and am taking the legs up to broadford on Sunday to give him, and he is going to do them Monday or Tuesday for me.

While the forks are off, I might even do the head bearings just for sport! Murphy's law would be that they would go in 1000k's if I didn't change them while it was apart!!!!

You slack bugger .. go the last mile and do the seals yaself too.

Hope them bushes are cheaper than the WR450 ones I just did - $80per leg just the parts.
Just one more law and everyone will be safe.

I pulled the forks out just then, ready to take up to Broadford on Sunday. Can't wait to get them back with some fresh oil and seals. I had been experiencing quite a different suspension action when cold and hot, meaning the suspension fluid is beyond it's use by date and getting sludgy. So some fresh oil will return more consistency over the period of a ride. I had it set up so that until you gave the suspension a work out and got it hot, it felt horribly hard. But it was the only way to keep it all together when the pace upped a bit. So I am looking forward to having it back so I can refiddle with the settings to get it how I like it. I may get him to rebuild the shock some time soon also. It fades as things get hotter too.

On closer inspection of the tubes, they look OK. So hopefully no rechroming or new bushes will be needed.

Pics or it didn't happen.

Geez, makes me think I should do something about that little smudge on one of mine...I think it might've been the jumps that did it

I was thinking the same thing Mick, hence my desire to change the head bearings! :) But more likely it would take more than we were doing to damage the headstem bearings Mick! We were pussies!

The seal that went on my Honda turned out to the the stator cover gasket. Cost $11 and too five minutes to fit once I"d drained the oil. Annoying this is, the stator cover was replaced in May after I dropped it in Diesel. I guess something wasn't right??? All good now anyway. Just need to find it some race glass.
