PC3's new Accelerator Pump Utility

Postby deafwish » Sun Jan 21, 2007 1:55 pm

I have just seen this new (apologies if it's old now....) feature on Power Commanders website that is free to download for all PC3 USB users:
http://www.powercommander.com/accelpump.shtml

Anyone tried using this function on the street or track?
For street use, what are good parameters to dial in?
Any info is appreciated!

after riding Dave#3's zx9 yesterday, it had instant go, where the Z thinks about it for a while,

im wondering it thios accel pump thing may wake things up a bit?

but i guess i'll never find out, i cant see myself making the Z go faster when it cant get enough ground clearance to take the bends.

The PC3 isn't just about going faster, it is about better rideability and fine tuning of the fuel injection.
A few stock bikes use the PC3 with good results!

Wattie sounds like "9 envy" mate , GO'ON YA KNOW YOU WANT TOO .

Big Kev found this feature a few months back & has messed with it a bit. I think alex at Lae set it too the optimum for most conditions.

BTW did u know ya can get a module for variable timing advancement as well

I have noticed on the twelve that when you are just ticking over at 60km (Not acclerating or slowing down) at around 3,000 RPM it sounds quite rough. Might have a play and see what it does.

Has anyone actually used this feature and how would I know if the feature was installed by the previous owner?

That could simply be your current tune. Had any other mods added recently? Was it a custom map? Try reloading a specific map for your bike and mods from the PC's website.

I assume you have the PC3 USB, not the older PC 2 or 3?
You would need to plug a laptop into your PC3 and have a look.

Yes, PC3 USB, has a custom map with Air filters, muzzy slip on etc. It is only a problem just as the accelerator is engaging slightly.

PLug it in tonight and have a look. Downloaded the software so either way it is going on tonight.

does that accelerator pump work like the accelerator pump in a carborator where it is only activated when the throttle is opened suddenly to stop the lean affect of the throttle being open so much so quickly

ok it does work the same as the old accelerator pump on the old carburator

i would be interested in finding out what ppl experiances are in regard to this as i woudl have thought the fuel injection system would have already catered for this

I installed a Muzzy S/S full system and a PC3 late last year on my 12 but I have had a continual problem trying to smooth out the varying flat spot between 2000 and 3500. I have it to a stage where it rides like a 1200 two stroke  . If you open the throttle slowly it is not as noticeable but I can’t get used to it.

This varies with each map and adjustment I have made. Phil and I have downloaded every map available on the Power Commander and ZX12 sites and test road the bike to try and pick the best one.

I took it down to SPM in Taren Point and he installed the Accelerator Pump software and adjusted it to smooth this out which worked but now I have smooth accelerating bike with no bottom end.

It takes alot of adjustment and test rides but I am at a stage where I am going to take the bike to a PC3 compatible dyno to get it sorted.
