How longs your rod?

I've just fitted a set of riser plates to my scoot and the shift rod is too short. At the moment the pedal is nearly in a straight line with the foot rest. Mine is 165mm long and has standard and reverse threaded M6 holes. If anyone knows of a bike that uses one say 15 - 20mm longer I'd greatly appreciate it.

Undo the retaining bolt on the shift shaft actuator and move it a few spline teeth closer to the swingarm endplate. That should earn you a cm or two.

I thought it might get poeples attention. Moving the actuator helped but my inital estimates of needing 20mm were off but at least 100%. There isn't much thread holding it all together.

if your plates are *say* 40mm back from stock, then its a 40mm-longer rod you need........at least to get things started.....

Don't rely on only a couple of threads to hold the shift-rod on  .

Most times when you fiddle with rear-sets of any type, some other mods are needed.......I have a few *modified* shift-rods here, we can go through that and see what works........until you locate a nice shiny one of the right length.......

or you can buy a bit extra, my jackup plates came with a extra 25mm bit of rod to lengthen it.

thought they would be a pain to use on the road but there actually quite good and i can push the bike backwards while i am sitting on it without banging into the pegs all the time.

Plus theres no way i am ever going to scrape my boot midcorner ever again.

try http://www.bcomponents.com.au there in the sponser list.
