Hi all.
Finally got my Z1000 today! 8)
Already, the mirror has broken from it's cast mounting..... Another darn thing I'll have to buy.....
Going over the bike at the moment and I can not lower the b1oody idle!
I have the workshop manual and have tried adjusting the idle screw and it still won't go under 2200rpm! :x I even unscrewed it until it almost came right out. :?
It is at operating temp'......
Anyone have any ideas?

 that sounds *weird* - perhaps something inside the throttle housing itself is rooted ??

Does it have a 'fast idle' position (like a choke) - sometimes the throttle cable housing can get 'pinched' under the tank, you should check that out as well - these are just the first things that spring to mind.

These things have EFI right ? hopefully its not something *expensive*....

the Z1000 pilots here should be able to help you sort out the problem.....

look for a vacuum leak its the most commen cause of fast idle and can be a simple fix :D

What was the last thing you did before the "problem" occurred ??
IT obv always hasnt been like it.
Kinked cable, choke on (good one Barra) throttle return spring or bell linkage jammed somewhere ?
