How hard can it be? Take the old one out, slap the new one in, bit of adjustment, ride around the yard before I take it on the road make sure is all ok, no worries, even mechanically challeneged Mick Dundee can do that.

WRONG, can't even pull the old clutch cabler off much less put the new fucker on... jammed somewhere inside the motor so no small surprise it's snapped, pullee the fairing off see if I can get a look at it and no go, will have another crack tomorrow I guess, otherwise she's off to a mechanic and the 2 closest to me I don't trust at all... nor do I have a trailer or indeed a towbar.

far canal, pain in the arse this is gonna be.

Mick
you replacing just the cable (inner)
or the cable and sheath assy???

the 'whole' assy on any bike is a bugger
coz somewhere particularly curves, there are steel
protectors or liners...a bugger to feed thru

yes you need to plan it I'm afraid
and yes..a service manual helps

cheers

Smitty

I would, except it's more fun hearing someone struggle than actually helping

Mind you, if all that was wrong with my old faithful 7 was the clutch cable I'd be all over it like stace on greg

Mr Smith, seems you can't purchase an inner so have the whole freaking thing. Mr D, I understand it SHOULDN'T be that hard but it friggin is, can't even get the nipple out of the lever for some strange reason, will sus it out further tomorrow I guess, perhaps pull the front fairing off even.

Pulled the front fairjng off today to have another look see if I can tell where it's stuck but f'd if I know so giving Stafford Yamaha a call tomorrow I guess and hopefully get it picked up and new cable installed.

Tack, appreciate your offer but Oakleigh to North coburg is still a fair distance and save hassling you i'll get the shop to pick it up I reckon.
