Hi ya Guys and Gals

I got a 94 ZZR250, I need to make it quika. I dont have the funds to buy a bigga bike cause i got taken to the cleaners.
I just wanna say hi to my ex wife

any who....
I was thinking sumfin along the lines of a turbo, me mate is a mechanic who has a 91 Camry he turboed himelf, so he nows hes way around turbos and stuff. He is ace.

What do yous think?

I really have no idea if it's possible but the idea seems kinda silly to me. I don't think the ZZR250 chassis could take the extra speed! If it was a ZX2R I would probably be thinking different but the ZZR250 in my experience and opinion wasn't made for 'high performance'

But if you want to, go ahead. Havent seen it done so it will be a first and a KSRC original!

Let me get that again...you can't afford a bigger bike, but you can afford a turbo??? Cool! 8)

Minor horsepower 'gains' can be achieved by:
* Replacing the airbox/filter setup with a K&N pod and filter.
* Changing the jetting in the carbs.
* Replacing the exhausts with something less restrictive like a Muzzy, and go 2-1 (instead of 2-2).

Spend the dough and you may get an extra 10-20% more power for (let's say) $1500 (new) of parts and a fair bit of screwing around with jets and doing the rest yourself.

And while 10-20% increase may sound impressive, the stock baby ZZR puts out 29HP, and you may get up to 34-35HP. There are guys in the States who race the GPX250 in California, I think with some severe tinkering they get around 40HP. But they lighten the clutch and do some severely anal shit to get that.

If you can get a turbo of a sufficiently diminutive size to suit a 2 cylinder 250 for nix, think screwing with the manifolds is great fun, put up with the loss of the bottom part of the performance envelope (which is really crap, the 250 doesn't get moving in stock form until well within 3rd) for a possibly screaming (and short-lived) top end, go for it! 8) 8) 8)

You do know that you can buy a half-decent 93/94 ZZR600 with ~100HP for much less trouble don't you?

Having said that, at least it'll be a talking point!

Let us know how you get on...

whaaaaaaa...only 2 ???? hehe
Actually, I have a better idea...
based on the ...MINE IS BIGGA THAN YOURS APPROACH!
how about grab a GPz500 (now ER5) 499cc engine
and stick that in the ZZR...cheap at the wreckers
2 cylinder..should fit..and not slow!!!!
heard of it being done b4, never seen the end result though
I have seen the ZX2r engine in a GPx250.... (why not buy a ZX2???)
it works, but why bother???

personally, I wanna see an ol' ZX600 engine in it...
no pharkin around here....wack it in..cheaper and easier than a turbo

oh
do I still get another go, after more brain stormin'??? haha

and yep
I am serious about the GPz500 engine!!!

cheers

The ZX2 250-4 cylinder I could understand, but I don't think the 500 is an option...it's just not going to fit. You just haven't got enough room. especially with the perimeter frame on the ZZR250. Maybe you COULD get away with it if you had a GPX250. Either way it's a world of pain...

...and the ZX600 donk fuggedtaboutit...don't forget everything's geared towards a 150kg bike, not 180kg and it's STILL only got a single small front disk.

...but you weren't really serious...were you Ian? Ian? Iaaaaaaan?

Mate, the bike does 10.5-11k RPM at 110km/h, redlines at 14.5k. I dunna think she can take it captain...

And it vibrates the crap out of your hands, let me tell you!

Makes them go numb after a couple of hours, which could be handy if you're single

Think robbing a bank is gonna be less drama in the long Run, EVEN if you get caught I might add.

aaaah Mick...
give a man a welder and he can create mountains
....of slag

the GPz engine??
I was serious, eyeballed I would say it is no bigger than the ZZR one or only mms' bigger than the ZZR engine (same width..might be a bit higher)
and
naaaaaah
not serious about the 600...nice thought though
give me a hacksaw and a MIG..hmmmm might fit hehe

getting the 'go department' a fix up is easy
stopping and handling is the next subject

cheers

firstly....no one touches my dick except me!! (and a select group of lucky ladies)...
secondly...its been done,kinda,...there was a guy in BA who had a yamy zeal 250 with a turbo...cost him more than a decent coupla year old zx6r, but he got lots of street cred with this huge turbo on the side...until u crash it on that side & totally destroy the farker!!
GARN DESTROY THE FARKER
