I just wanna say hi to my ex wife
any who....
I was thinking sumfin along the lines of a turbo, me mate is a mechanic who has a 91 Camry he turboed himelf, so he nows hes way around turbos and stuff. He is ace.
What do yous think?
Let me get that again...you can't afford a bigger bike, but you can afford a turbo??? Cool!
Minor horsepower 'gains' can be achieved by:
* Replacing the airbox/filter setup with a K&N pod and filter.
* Changing the jetting in the carbs.
* Replacing the exhausts with something less restrictive like a Muzzy, and go 2-1 (instead of 2-2).
Spend the dough and you may get an extra 10-20% more power for (let's say) $1500 (new) of parts and a fair bit of screwing around with jets and doing the rest yourself.
And while 10-20% increase may sound impressive, the stock baby ZZR puts out 29HP, and you may get up to 34-35HP. There are guys in the States who race the GPX250 in California, I think with some severe tinkering they get around 40HP. But they lighten the clutch and do some severely anal shit to get that.
If you can get a turbo of a sufficiently diminutive size to suit a 2 cylinder 250 for nix, think screwing with the manifolds is great fun, put up with the loss of the bottom part of the performance envelope (which is really crap, the 250 doesn't get moving in stock form until well within 3rd) for a possibly screaming (and short-lived) top end, go for it!
You do know that you can buy a half-decent 93/94 ZZR600 with ~100HP for much less trouble don't you?
Having said that, at least it'll be a talking point!
Let us know how you get on...
