GPX Wont Start :(

OK, just bought my first bike (GPX250), aint got my license, just my l's. anyway, go for a ride after work today with a mate and im trying to turn some tight circles trying to get the hang of it.
one attempt left me too wide so i hit some small bluemetal shit or something on the side of the road and over she goes!!!
i was going hell slow so i tried to stay under the bike to protect it hehehe anyway, lost grip of the clutch so the bike jumped forward while it was on the ground!!!
jump up, no cosmetic damage, so im thankful for that! anyway, now it wont start! it just cranks over as if its flooded or something? i FINALLY managed to get it going after much turning over, then it coughed n spluttered while the fuel presumably started circulating again. rode it for another 5 mins then took it home.
i let it sit for prolly 10 or 15 mins then i tried starting it again, but it wldnt go!!! so ive just left it in the shed becos im angry :x and emabarassed
after ive TRIED starting it, it reeks of fuel as if its flooding or leaking fuel? theres no visible fuel leak and i thought taking it for a run wldve stopped it from flooding? ive left in the shed over night now...
are there any thoughts???!!
thanks ppl
sorry for the long post!

That aint a long post Booze :D
Firstly, congrats on dumping your bike

Just stirring.

The bike will be at it's most unstable when travelling at low speeds, so seeing a bike go over at slow speeds is not uncommon. We all have done it, its just most of us would not be big enough to admit it!
So, don't feel too bad about your bike. There is no cosmetic damage, so your problem is halved straight away.
While you are angry and upset just leave your bike alone, go and watch TV and look at your bike tomorrow when you are feeling more up to it.

I'm no expert on mechanics etc, but you may have just stirred up crap and it has gone into your carbies. Or you may have dislodged a fuel hose or something.
Look at it tomorrow when you have day light. Look for hoses that may have come off, this may sound silly but check to see that you have fuel in your tank. If it is empty fill it up and check for leaks, check that your carbies aren't leaking or that anything is amiss.

I hope this helps.

Good luck and let us know how you go. :D

i still havent calmed down :x
hahahaha
yeah its got a full tank in it thats for sure...
i was thinking a pinched fuel line so that no fuel was getting through at all maybe??? hell knows! but i cldnt see any actual fuel leaks...
ive got a mate thats going to come round tomoz, so hopefully he knows what hes looking at :)
cheers!!!

booze, there are only two types of motorcyclists.

Those that have crashed, and those that will.
So, welcome to the club!

As for the bike, leave it for an hour and try and start it again. Let us know how you go.

Yeah, probably got fuel in places of the carb that don't normally get fuel. The warmth of the motor and a bit of time sitting around should clear it up. Make sure you didn't accidently put the choke full on as well.

Try it in the morning, it will probably be ok.

quarkz>> ur wrong...lol..nah maybe...but consider if u flood it, then opening the throttle fully & cranking it, it should start..hence once its running its no longer flooded...so its not flooded...i would guess uve upset the carbs sumwhere, maybe the float bowls?? maybe the needles were dislodged in the drop?? MAYBE the fuel mix screw has taken a bump & shes running so rich she wont fire? maybe a lead has come off?? is there spark to all HTLeads??....1st thing id check is the simple stuff...is the fuel tap on?? is the choke on?? has the fuel line to the tap come adrift?? lil things like that are often the worst...maybe uve got a bit of fuel spilt on the lectrickery parts & sumthings goin on there??...i had probs with a 2 stroke honda 250 i had similar...my dad moved it, left it on grass, she fell over & was laying on her side for an hour..i let it sit for a few hours & she kicked fine...remeber the flooding trick tho..open full throttle & crank it, thats how to clean it out

A mate of mine had a similar incident on GPX. And when we got it up, it fired straight away as the it was still hot. But after sitting it wouldnt go. So we pulled out the carby and the floats had got stuck. So everytime we tried starting, it would continually flood. Just something else to look at.
Goodluck.
Cheers Sean

Onya Booze Glad to read your out Practicing stuff, as for not Dropping it that's generally the plan most of work from. After Writing off 2 brand new GSX250S' (NAIL with an S in front) in 1981 My brother gave me some good advice.
"Get yourself a Chook Chaser Ride it as often as You can and If you dont Drop it 3 times an outing you Arent Trying hard enough."
So I purchased a YZ125H, me & it got seperated more times the "Rolling Stones" & i leant a heap.
Each spill you walk away from is a good 1 & 1 less in front of you.
Cheers Brett
