If you were comparing the Michelin Pilot Race with the Diablo Super Corsa Pro It would be a more even comparison. The Pilot Power is in a similiar playing field to the Metzler M3, the Bridgestone BT014/015, the Conti Sport Attack, and the Dunnie Qualifiers.
Where as Metzler Racetech/rennsport, 208GP, BT002's all sit in the Super Corsa playing field!
I am sure the grip and mileage would be more similiar if comparing apples with apples.

Fair call there Strika .
I would be interested to hear from any riders who have ran the above mentioned soft compound DOT
road tyres.Particularly M3's vs Diablo Corsa/Corsa 3..P/Powers vs DC 3's etc.
ie price vs wear vs wet/dry grip etc
anyone ran the Pilot road 2's?? what u think??[/quote]
I have used a set of Diablo Strada (Like a Pilot Road or an 020/021 or a Sportec ) They are as good in grip as anything else, but they chop out really badly?
I have also used the Diablo which is equivelent to an M3. Once again the Pirelli wore unevenly and caused slight bar oscillation in slow hairpins.
While never having used the Corsa/pro A good mate of mine who runs about the same lap times as me reckons they grip great. However, he also had odd wear characteristics.
My choice for tyres at the moment from what I have sampled would be something along the following lines.
Race tyre;
1. Bridgestone 002 Pro (Not the street...not the street....not the street!!!!!!!!!!!!)
2. Racetech K2's! Mmmmm Almost as much front grip, with just as much rear as the 002, but better wear and a better road tyre also-less cold tearing and less warm up issue than the 002 on the road
3. Pilot Race
Road Sports Tyre:
This ones a toss up, some I prefer for grip, some for wear.
1. M3. Although I find the very edge of the rear walks around a bit, it is never frightening and the wear is better than PP or 014 or Qualifier
2. Continental Sport Attacks- the grip is phenomenal!! But 4500 out of a rear! Although the front will get 9-10!
3. Pilot Powers-I havn't tried the 2Ct in the power, but a mate who can steer reckons they are good and the Pilot Powers are fine they just feel a little vague. They wear somewhere between the M3 and the Conti's!
Sports Touring Tyre;
1.Pilot Road 2-the new 2CT jobbie. It's wear rate is superb and I am gobsmacked at how well the feckers grip! I had the beemer fully loaded and cranked and it never put a foot wrong!! Ask Hoffy, he saw the lean angles the old girl was carrying. So impressed was I, that I have stuck one on the back of the 9 to see how it goes on a slightly lighter bike! I'll let you know, but if it's as good as it was on the beemer, then it'll stay!!!
2.Pirelli Diablo Strada-Good warm up and grip but they chop out early.
Over the last few years as a road tyre the best run I reckon I have had is with the Metzler Racetech K2's! I coaxed 8500k's from a front and was averaging about 5-5.5k from a rear which is damn as good as the sports road tyres that I have used. This time with the rear tyre, I have gone the other way to a harder compund tyre to see if it will compromise grip to the point of spoiling enjoyment and if it will last considerably longer. I'll let you know!

There are really only two questions in life. 1.Which way do i go? 2.What is the lap record?
