It ended up being a problem with the spark plug being fouled...

My fav mechanic... Dave from Promoto, cleaned it, tested it... and then spent some time trying to figure out why it fouled in the first place.. He couldnt find a reason for it... Then he cleaned my bike and gave it back to me...

I noticed he also adjusted my chain, cleaned my brakes, adjusted my idle.. I love that about him... he is very thorough...

I told him to replace all the plugs (just in case) ... It ended up costing just over a hundred bucks...

good to hear it wasn't anything major dolbyhead! (is dolby and stereo similar?!)

i was gunna leave damo's post, but here goes....

'BOUT TIME!!! I was wondering when someone was gunna tell me to shut the hell up!! Cheers mate! real quick (for the record, and it may explain why i'm being such a 'wife'?) I've had 3 "sportsbikes", all were atleast 10 years old when i got them (ie: used and on the cheap, as i have been a student/non-career worker for AGES!). I have also had used cars (5 altogether, again, OLD and many miles on them) ANYWAY... not one of them have ever let me down. not one. ever. SO, when I finally have saved up enough, researched enough, and buy a less then 3 year old bike (basically BRAND NEW for me!)... I thought it would treat me the same, actually BETTER than any other "mechanical" thing I have owned... wasn't the case. I've had problem after problem with this bike. Guess my luck with used mechanical things has run out? i told my wife that this "new" bike would be SO reliable (as there was nothing wrong with my last bike)... anyway, now I am faced with repairs that are going to be MORE than 1/2 the value of the thing. which is why "my thread" about the whole subject was titled "what would you do?"... b/c seriously, WHAT WOULD YOU DO? fix something that is almost guaranteed to die again (as its track record has led me to believe, seriously it was something once a month!) or do i cut my losses somehow?
also for the record, tanya, the LRP petrol is 95 octane, and I still haven't found any evidence that it was bad using it while i did.... meh?
AND the final thing.... I am finally at the end of my Uni years, and I have job interviews lined up.... no personal transport plays havoc with that. plus, the last Uni assignments and tests (huge "worries" type O things) and I have to also start ringing around for best prices on motors and research how i'm gunna fix it at the same time so i can get it back and outta my mechanics hair. again just more worries.....
OK, i'll shut up now, stop desicrating your sacred kwaks.... pay my money for the thing, stop whining in everyone else's threads and basically f@rck off!!
cheers to all who have helped out (MANY) which is why i say the best things about kwaks are the owners (okay, seriously, that was the last dig!)
i'm gunna go paint my toe nails now....

I really feel for you Yankee....

And to tell you the truth... I believe there is such as thing as a "Bad luck bike"...

I have had bikes in the past that were just bad luck.... no matter what I fixed, something else would break... just constantly... unrelated things even.. suspension one month, tire the next, front suspension the next, then it got stolen, then I got it back, panel damage, front brake discs warped, timing chain, etc etc ad nausium

In the end I sold it and bought another bike and that didnt have a single problem the entire time I owned it... its like carma...

I understand that you now hate kawasakis... but the reality of the situation is... Kawasakis are generally very reliable and solid... It is one of the reasons why kawasaki owners are passionate about them... Millions of people own kawasakis and never have a problem with them...

You just had some bad luck... and I really feel for you...

Now stop hijacking my thread

LOL....
also for the record (ie: being truthful and not dicking around):

I still love kwaks.... i rode one the other day (not mine, a newer version of mine... thanks "you-know-who-you-are"!)
anyway, you just don't get that "kwak" feeling on anything else, do you? i know, i've looked. i was smiles from ear to ear. the sound. the razor sharp "flicking"... she just dives before you "tell" her to... so anyway, that made me remember why i love MY bike so much.... she's getting fixed. It'll be back on the road. $$$$ is no issue (well, of course it is, but you don't bat an eye when your dog is sick do you?)
ANYWAY---> i'll stop hi-jacking your thread now!!!

Your bike sounds like a badluck bike... the moment it is fixed, sell it and buy another .... perhaps a 9r ... or a newer model :)
