If your doing trackdays definately get a stickier tyre. Cheaper to spend a little more on tyres than smash repairs.

Shouldn't have a problem getting under 2mins with Pilot Powers

You will almost definately get more than 4-5k out of them. Look after them and I reckon you could get 10 out of the rear and a bit more out of the font. Just keep the pressures up a bit higher when commuting.

if u commuting go PR2's .. they are pilot powers on the sides anyway, with harder middle compound..

it you can outride their grip Id be very very surprised !!

although they are an extra $130..

here is something to ponder....

my tyre bloke told me several years ago.......the worst tyres made today, are better than the abilities of 95% of the riders out there......

and I think he is onto something. There are the *elite* 5% who can ride past the limit of the tyres, but for most of us, its juts a question of whats available, how much is it, and when can you fit them ! ;)

M3's are a great tyre on the 12, but they wear out quickly ( as do most tyres on the back of a 12  )

PP's are also a good tyre, but wear out even quicker... (but they leave really good 100m+ darkies out of corners...)

PR2's are the best combination of grip v. mileage I have used on the 12 so far.

Having said that, I consider Marty's advice about tyres pretty much the best going, and I have always liked Dunlops anyway, so a set of RS's will be the next hoops to grace the MFP12.

had rs fitted last saturday, scraped the fairing and peg/sidestand after having to tip in hard to avoid going wide on a 180 degree onramp.
tip in seems slow to start but once started seems planted and steady
