Heard a few stories about that 5.1, was told by a few guys in the know not to use the 5.1?? tristain from redline in dandenong put me on to the rbf 600, so i gather that is different from the 5.1?? as he was one of the guys that told me not to use it??? fucked if i know!!! all i know is all is well now.
But that will change again soon when the brembo's go on, and may change rotor's as well, dury still out on the rotor change tho.

Well I'm not quick either so anyway....on the ZXR750 at QR I ran a set of Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres and did a best of 1: 29.5. I then fitted a set of Pirelli superbike pro slicks and did consistent 1: 26's with a one off lap of 1:24.4!

The Diablo Rosso wore out in two and half track days...the superbike pro slicks didn't wear at all...lol.

However I wouldn't recommend the superbike pro slicks unless you just want long tyre wear on track and your not worried about times.

Just as a comparison between an old ZXR750 and a modern ZX10r, the 07 ZX10r track bike I have did a 1:21 dead on the superbike pro slicks..... but then again the prostock guys are doing 1:13's so comparatively I'm not the best test pilot.

While I was out QR last time I was talking to a guy who had run two 07 ZX10r's (apparently wrote both of them off against the same wall...1 year apart...almost to the day...lol...maybe that's why he was running an R1 now!) but he reckins that he was doing 1:15's on the 07.....he told me that after a lot of testing they found that 35mm of sag worked on the front with 5mm sticking thru the triple and 25mm sag at the rear....so I have put those settings on it and was hoping to go out this weekend (but waiting on pads) to see what it did...
I live with fear everyday but on weekends she lets me ride.

i had the rear jacked up, but was tankslapping like a retarded rabbit.

i think you need an ohlins rear shock... i happen to have a spare in my garage. ;)

yes this track day this weekend will be the last before it gets relaid....supposed to be out of action for three months...so i joined the motorcycle sportsmen and might see if I can get onto Warrick...that seems like a good track but never ridden it...only been out there with a team testing porche cup cars....

yes it is rough...had the bike bouncing around all over the place...felt more like a motocross track at times...plus I had stock suspension and a stock steering damper.....had heaps of headshake coming out of corners so now I've had the ohlins damper revalved.

I was just laughing to myself cause I happen to be reading this:
http://www.cycleonline.com.au/2011/10/1 ... nd-8-hour/

and noticed that they're offering the superbike pro slick for use at the Phillip island 6 hour...I reckon you could run the whole 6 hours on the thing and then bring it back next year and run another 6 hours.

Dont kno about dropping the front tack??? Wattie is right about the front.
im running 6mm ride height on the rear, front set as it was from new, tubes thru the triple clamps that is. was talking to deano from dynoverves a while ago, he had shannons old 07 exTKA bike there doing some work on it, and he told me the guy that bought it was running 9mm rear ride height on it!!!and was happy with that!!!! went next door and had a chat to dave(krooz tune) about sag heights on the TTX, he told me 30mm sag, yet when i had the org shock on(resprung, ect) stewie winton told me to set it about 24/25mm

Back to back tests

I was told 24.5 by the Zeno man when he did mine. Front is a bit on the soft side now to encourage me to brake smoother and for better corner exits :)

hmmm....you're saying that 6mm thru the clamp is standard?

When I got this bike (2nd or 3rd hand?) the top of the fork was dead level with the top of the clamp. I just assumed that was stock.

The guy out at the track said you measure from the top of the tube, not the cap.....so I dropped it thru 5mm.

So that should be standard then????

So your saying that the guy with Shannons old bike is running 9mm sag??? ie rider on bike kitted up and the bike sags 9mm?? or 9mm static sag without the rider?

If it's 9mm...that's a small amount......

It's interesting how different people run such different amounts....wonder how much difference in lap time it actually makes??

No, front is as new, level with the cap, rear is up 6mm, 5mm spacer, and one turn on the ohlins, one turn is 1mm.
guy that bought shannon's bike runs 9mm on the rear?? seems steep to me, deano didnt say anything about the front, orther than thats how he likes it?? dont kno how he goes, never seen it at the track.

Is he fast?
Also some ex tka bikes have chopped down seats, so makes a center of gravity a bit different.

Mmm just read ur post again tack, i missed a few things!!
was talking about rear ride height, not sag mate, sag on mine is 30mm from free sag to rider sag in all riding gear.9mm seems to me to be jacking the rear up a bit to much, but whatever works for the rider i suppose?
And yep level with the fork tube, i just didnt explain it right!!!

Dont kno wattie, deano said he was a young guy, but i dont kno him, and as u kno, u dont see many 07 at the track, and i often wander around and chat to them, well the owner that is!!!! not the bike, i only do that with my own!!!
But shannons bike would have been a great buy, sold for $10,000, and deano said it had about 80grand in it.

There is about 6 of Shannon Johnson's bikes around... Apparently.

ZXRno1 on here has one of them.
There was another at bike biz early this year. And another on eBay this year too.
The Better ones had the shorty akro's on them. More top end power.
