We left it plugged in, disconnecting that smog module plug appeared to be a handful.

There is some kind of glued protective insulation surrounding it which kawasaki has put on, insinuating it shouldn't be removed; it prevents the module from being disconnected from a plug which I assume is under there.

In the end we didn't proceed with it; didnt want to pull everything off again just in case it did trigger the FI light with it disconnected.

Sorry I didnt get back to you. As blackster said the plug seemed to be more securely fastened. And whilst we were at it the TRE required harness wire cutting etc so it was best to leave it on so we could concentrate on the TRE and any FI light of which there werent any in the end :D

How many k's has your bike got on it now? I don't think I'd be able to restrain myself with a new bike

Oh yeah, and where do you get the block off plates and what was involved?

Quick update, as I was testing a few things today.

@ Wattie, leaving the smog module unplugged will trigger FI light. Perhaps with time someone will make a closed loop plug, like the servo buddy; so you can ditch the module.

@ Tim, bike has just clicked over 750km, block plates were purchased from ebay; brand here, unsure if the installation procedure is the same on the 06-08 models.

Make one of these, wack some dielectric gel on it before plugging it in, wrap some lecco tape around it, and problem solved :kuda:
