Is the 70 profile front tyre a partner to the rear tyre currently on the bike? If not, it may be the mismatched shape of the front-rear causing the nervousness in the handling? If they are part of a matched set, it sounds like the other suspension changes could be the culprit.
I know my bike is a lot older, but when I went from the 60 profile to 70 on the front (including raising the forks through the trees) it turned quicker and felt better at the same time.
It is a matched set. I think I might set the suspension back to what it used to be, and maybe try suspension games again once I go back to my usual fave tyres...
