The only proplem with HID is that you loose your high beam function which could be a problem when you need to get a pink slip..

I also have HID put in and its only on the running light not the high beam side

Same here. i've got the lo and hi beams installed. work fantastic... and gain probably close to 70mtrs noticable viewing at night time on H/B.

only downside to running them is that you lose the ability to use the flash button (well it works, but because it doesn't have heat in it the light it's no where near full brightness)

one of the best mods i've done on the bike IMO :)

Wouldnt it then become just a Track Night?

Most HID kits are illegal for road use, and pretty much all bulbs with a higher rating than 4000k,

I bought some 4000k artic blue "narva' brand bulbs from repco, haven't installed yet but in the same leage as osram silverstar ultras..
they're pretty much as high as you can go and still be ADR approved for road use.

i've got HID which are yet to be installed but i double checked and they are legal. Mine are either 6000 or 8000k.

unless they have an ADR approved sticker on the HIDs, they're not road legal, especially when most of those quality kits come from europe where standards are quite different.

It is not legal to put them on your bike unless you have a 'projector lense', the standard fresnel lenses and reflectors cause the HID light to go all over the place and make it unroadworthy because you dont get a clear cut beam.

and anything abouve 8000k is illegal because the light is too blue, and we all know why they dont want blue lights out there

the conversion has to be adr approved, not just the components
