Stanley, but not the cheap ones with the crome plating, have a look at the tip, the good ones you can see machining marks across the blade, the shit ones don't have these. I have a set of good ones that I have had since the start of my apprenticeship, 15 or so years ago and they have been misused a LOT and they are still going strong.

Sidchrome aka Stanley reasonable. CGL not too bad for price , Proto ok..

Kingchrome with the neoprene handles shit...tips snap like matches and handles not suited to abuse at all,really slippery when you get the slightest bit of fuel/oil on em.

Personally I own the Snap on new generation series for home (soft handle).Work I use a set of 20yr old Hard handle jobbies (the original black ones)..have replaced 3 tips in that time only (still covered by warranty).. Farkin dear but you pays for what you gets.

Invest in an impact driver too .. Generic blue boxed jobbies ok for 10-20 bucks..Very good for Suzi/Yam brake ressie covers,stator/clutch covers etc.

..Snap on long series good for mixing Jacks n Coke without dipping handle on Friday nights too

For bang for bucks Kingchrome or K.C. go very well . Just got a Bahco small socket set and seems good value , since it was on sale .
Anyone recomending the tools they bought 10 years ago better check what they are like if you bought them today . Some of the old "name" brands are sadly just second rate crap now .

Anyone remember Ryans in Elizabeth Street , every automotive tool in existance . And everything set out in glass cases like an old style Coles store so you could check out everything . Think they were the owners of Ryco filters .

I have Stahlwille and Snap-On passed down from my Dad. If I ever had to buy one(unlikely) I would not get anything but these again.

havent used them but i'd look at the repco ones as rusty said , they are pretty cheap and have a lifetime warranty.

stores are open until 7pm everyday if u ever need to change one over!

thats where I bought my first serious tool...and it cost me a weeks wages
a Warren and Brown 'large' imperial torque wrench...up to 250 ft lb

I still have this...works beautifully (and it gets calibrated bi-annually)

Take it from someone who uses screwdrivers for a living , "Wiha" are the best normally about 60 bucks a set but fit the best in your hand and are rated to 1000Volt, all the sparkies I know use them cause they are comfortable and strong.for big flats ie"tyre levers" maybey some cheaper stanleys.

I got hooked on Snap-On stuff 20 years ago and still have EVERY Snap-On tool I ever purchased from them! I find the handles on the screwdrivers to work well and grip regardless of how sweaty and frustrated I get!!!! The tips are now 20 years old and still fit and grip well with no discernable wear. The ratchet is also 20 years old and get's cleaned and oiled every 10 years wether it needs it or not and still works perfectly!!!! I have also done silly things like used the screwdrivers as a punch or a lever and still havn't managed to fark em yet!!!!
