So I ordered a new pushrod and a new cap, and took them around to Gos' place this afternoon. Here's the old rod and the new one, guess which is which:

Turns out that the new one is about 15mm longer than the old one, and it's either all worn away or there's at least one bit that's broken off and is wedged inside the pushrod cap because the hole where the pushrod goes into the cap is about 5mm deeper on the new cap, and the whole assembly (2 new parts) is just the right length now to make the clutch work and Gos even took it for a quick lap of the yard and the lever is fine and it disengages and everything :).

It makes me happy in my penis to have it working again, might even go for a fang on Saturday to celebrate :D.
