the only problem i can see is the kero/water getting past the o-rings and diluting the lube held within there. thats why you scrub lightly and avoid high pressure when hosing down afterwards.

And, if that Aus Export stuff is just pressurised kero, can you see any problems using it on your chain? (I'm thinking spray is easier than a soaking rag/toothbrush).

IF they are really kero and nothing else added in there, I don't see why not.
Kero is recommended by chain manufacturers for cleaning chain.

While we're at it, does anyone have any sensational ideas on how to clean your front sprocket?

Mine is covered with a side cover and has a sensational quantity of goo oozing out underneath it.

recently when i had the ZZR250 took the sprocket cover off went to the self serve car wash with a $2 ($1) can of degreaser and thankful for the centre stand was clean and spiffy and looked like a brand new chain and sprockets in no time

on the centre stand brush and in gear, keep fingers away from hurties

later into top gear lots of degreaser and a liberal dosing of the hose and all clean

make sure bike is stable as dont want it running away

i wouldnt worry too much about a once off with degreaser and the hose

The safe and only way to do it is to put the bike in neutral, with the engine off and turn it a little bit at a time..... Its safer and you do a better job....

Words of wisdom.

Lubing the chain is the only time you would consider having the bike in gear with the rear wheel off the ground. This works a treat during a long road-ride.

yea $2 stuff is good cos its pressurised , but theres better stuff out there too (shift it) ....

as for the front sprocket...my front sprocket cover is held on by 2 bolts..with the motor off, id take the cover off, and ussing a toothbrush and spray can of degreaser id clean it that way...if u have a centre stand much easier, just dont get fingers/hair/boobs caught in chain/sprocket!!
