I'm working on a z250 twin at the moment. Whats the quality of the cam bearing surfaces like? I've got 2 heads for the twin and one is stuffed, the good one is on the motor.

I've had to get new exhaust valve guides for mine, they work out $34 each (+70c for new circlips), oil seals are around $4. Its not too hard to do. You will probably need to get a new head gasket because they break up when you remove the head. If you can't find a bike place, maybe a car mechanic might be able to help with the valves. If you order new parts you'll probably be up for a 1 month wait for them to come from japan (I ordered 2 valve guides and they only had 1 in the Aust warehouse). Luckly you have a single so its only half the cost of what I have to pay :(. Maybe see if your local dealer has the microfische for it and go through and work out what you need.

For a rough idea of prices for new stuff (in US dollars, but I've found a straight currancy conversion is indicative of aussie prices) I use bikebandit.com, in your case, the 1982 250CSR should be close to what your looking for.

Good luck
Dave
