Fair 'nuff, considering you have a business to run I cannot fault your reasoning, not one bit. So on that basis, don't reply if it's not worthwhile (and I mean that in the nicest possible way).
I have contemplated the likelyhood of the oil flow differing in one direction vs the other, and I first came to the same conclusion, but then I got wondering why the aftermarket orifice would be a different size. Why not simply supply one needle with holes, the other without? There might well be another good practical reason ... but there simply aren't that many movable parts, so it was the only theory I could come up with.
If I ever get to the bottom of it I'll share it, perhaps others are also interested.

Maybe I should just wait and see how the 2013 electronic SD works? If it's anything like the CBR600RR's it would be good 'nuff for my needs (being very light on the bars helps me).
