Reasonable price?

Postby BarraSpalding » Wed Feb 15, 2012 8:52 am

Probably picking up the ZX6R on saturday morning but the bike is finished and ready today -

rough quote for Fork Seals and supply and fit brake pads was advised verbally as $400.00. Is that on the mark?

I did get a verbal quote prior to booking in the bike of $250 for seals, then add on brake pads (i think they will be goldfren)

Fork seals and both front and rear brake pads for $400 sounds ok to me. Not the most reasonable quote, but most bike shops would charge just that.

I would've thought $400 for just pads is a bit exy. 2 hrs labour tops! $150 ( being generous depends on pads) for pads plus labour equals $300 tops I would have thought.
Unless they are doing complete fluid replacement etc but even then I would've thought 2 hrs labour would cover it.
Heck I can do front pads on mine easily within an hour and that's not what I do for coin.....

I think he still got the forks done, when he said its just the front pads, I'm thinking he's saying the front got done not the back??????
If so I think $400 is quite reasonable, of not then it's a bit exxy haha

Fork seals and oil (he said it stunk like shit - it sure hasn't been replaced in the 4 years i've had the bike), front brake pads.

I need to find a good home job mechanic in Adelaide for these types of jobs.

Just came to my mind that the front has 2 sets of pads. So $400 is ok I guess. I had done the front fork, rear pads for about $350.
