zrx1200 starterchain tesioner

Postby zedman900 » Sat Oct 15, 2011 3:22 pm

Does anyone know how to rectify the problem of the starter chain tensioner from hitting the clutch basket?
mine is doing it at 20,000 kms, i havn,t yet pulled it apart for a look, i,m assuming it is only happening when
starter is engaged, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Neale.

See here.

It's an easy fix. You don't need to drop the oil but it might be worth having a spare clutch cover gasket handy.

Did a similar fix to my ZRX (but from Maladezo from same site) and not sure if it fixed it. Ended up Kawasaki fixed it for the third time, this time outta warranty- but they modded the tensioner by cutting and filing the end of the tensioner so it can't hit the basket. Haven't checked to see if this has fixed it. :?

Well I just did a service on my zrx & I could see the slightest little nick on the basket, So I'll be doing plates & springs soon so I'll do this mod while its apart..

I had to do it to my ZRX last year, got my part from from Maladezo.

Pretty easy if you follow the instructions.

And on the seventh day Richo ended his work which he had made. Decided resting was for soft cox, straddled the REX and headed up the old road.
And it was good
