99 ZX6 pipe.

Postby Zedex 6 » Thu Aug 25, 2011 8:58 pm

G'day All.

I have 99 ZX6, was wondering if anyone has reduced the size on the pipe from the collector back to a smaller diameter. The main pipe is some 3", which looking down splits to 2 chambers.
I want to replace this pipe from the collector and run a yoshi slip on, rather than the large 3 bolt flange.
So if anyone has carried out this mod, I would like to know if there was a loss or gain in power, better or worse mid range, and elimination of the dreaded mozzie buzz.
Cheers for any input

That long split pipe "2-section" is what gives you the mid-range/street manners so turning your 4-2-1 into a 4-1 you'll gain some top end but lose in the low-mid.

Do you have the can yet though? You can pick up a brand new yoshi full system from the states for 600-700 (depending on whether you want SS, Ti or carbon). Shipping is about 100 bucks. http://www.hardracing.com/Exhaust%20Sys ... wasaki.htm
