Noisy top end

Postby ratfink_nz » Tue May 24, 2011 8:54 am

Well i finally found the rattle. after everyone telling me it was the camchain I just kept riding it until I could save the money to get it replaced.I decided to do it myself took the top off and found the chain was fine looked everywhere then gave up. The bike came with a spare motor so decided to put that in. Bloody thing has munched screw heads everywhere and a stripped plug thread, but thats another story. In the weekend decided to have a look at the old motor and found it was missing 2 circlips and two of the gudgeons were floating loose and had machined nice grooves in the bore. I'm amazed it was still running. No wonder it was getting hard to start. Funny thing is it still ran fine and went like stink (for a 250)and wasn't smoking at all.
P.S. Huge thanks to whoever posted the manual on the site I would have been lost without it.
