Stuck. What should I do

Postby mr_messy » Wed Feb 23, 2011 6:59 pm

I was doing a clean of the carburetors on my 1991 zxr250c.
I got side tracked and did the spark plugs also.
While doing that I also decided to give it a clean while it was apart.
Anyway I ended up getting not only some dirt and crap into the ports but also some of the kero I was using.
I know anything other than air and fuel is bad. ...

This will probably get long so to sum it up I ended up taking the motor out with the intention of pulling the head off and cleaning it. Only I have no idea what to do with the motor sitting on the milk crate. LOL
I dont know what to do now.
Any ideas?

Geez that was a bit drastic  step 1 always stuff some rag in the ports as soon as the carbs come off... guess you have learnt the hard way, as for the crap in the ports, you could have used compressed air to blow out the bad bits ... the kero will dry but just in case you poured enough down there to be a problem or get past the rings an engine flush would have been sufficient.
Whack the engine back in & do the above steps ...... its def not worth pulling apart.

Nothing to do with your name

Cue the Beavis & Butthead laughter.

But seriously, no need to disassemble unless the engine isshowing symptoms of a need for repair. Just get more kero, a stiff brush and just go at it and make it shiny and put it back in. Job done!
