Side Stand or Swingarm ?

Postby Matrix » Sat Sep 25, 2010 9:33 am

G'day everyone!
I found a lot of ppl reporting problems and subsequent damage to their bikes while on side stand. So i was wondering how safe and reliable side stands are?
Should i buy a swingarm paddock stand ? There are some good swingarm deals on ebay but i'd like to hear from you guys weather this is an important buy or not? and if it is, could someone please tell me what size of spools would fit my ER6n ?
Cheers guys :D :kuda:

Side stands are fine if your careful of what you re doing and where you park. Always make sure the stand in fully forward before putting the bike on it, and if its facing downhill it must be in gear with the slack taken up ;)

The paddock stand is great if you want to do maintenance but they are not essential.

Saying that all my bikes have front and rear stands ;)

Sidestands are cool unless you own a Bimota DB1, spring on them was so heavy you had to keep your foot on the stand as you sat the bike down or she would spring up........ design FAIL!

Sweet, thanks for the replies guys! I willget a swingarm stand for my home garage so that when im not riding, the bike will stay on it and it'll help with whatever maintenance work i need.

Yep 10mm thread on them. I have these on both of my ER6ns.:

(I have them in chrome though.)

Racestands make lubing chains a whole lot easier on the ER.
