that was the last setting i put it too. but dont forget i aint normal height and weight.

my tyre pressures are 36 front, 38 rear

I spoke to izzy the guy from suspensions r us and he said the rear shock should be rebuilt or serviced every 20,000km. He asked me to come down and he'll have a look at it for nothing and quote me. I might try to make time and go there this saturday before my trip to NZ.

Well, well, well....

i went to suspensions r us. Awesome bloke. The story is as follows:

my ZX7r with 33,000 lacks rebound control. Thats the bottom line. This could be due to the breakdown of oil in the shock, valve, valve seal. I had a quite intense chat about suspension (a crash course, u can call it). Here is the important part MONEY talk.

The costs are as follows:
1. Service including re-gas, oil and seal: $160
2. Re-valve: $80 or Gold re-valve: $240
3. New spring to suit my weight: $200

Now i'm thinking hard about what needs to be done.

Should i just get the service and then see how it goes?
Should i get a new spring to suit my weight?
Should i get it re-valved?

What do u guys think?

Matty, madkaw, kempy, greenmeanie and other 7r owners u guys ride/race 7r's and have been riding longer than me. Whats ur opionion on all this?

I dont ride all that hard and i'm only indending on keeping the bike for a another 1 or 2 years.

IMO mate, honestly..

Your riding has improved alot over the past few months from what I can tell.. So consider the set up of your bike being quite off, your doing pretty well.. No once you have faith in it being setup just right for you, you know your going to start pushing abit harder because your confidence will increase imensly..

so IMO I recon you should get it done right one and know that it's going to suit you for road and track days. So reco on the shock and a new spring I recon, and then get him to set up the height of the front and rear and check the front out to make sure it's set up to match the rear. And I recon you'll have a bike setup to suit you to a tea. I think the Gold Revalve is prob abit of over kill as your prob not really going to reep the benefits of the additional $200.. I could be wrong though.

so did u go the gold valve :?: ..........when i had mine done the guy who did it (who's not jamie stuaffer's race engineer 8) :wink: ) said the std stuff was good enough, it just wasnt set up properly. 8)

it was like a new bike when he'd weaved his majic. i hope yours is the same. 8)

put the shocker in it feels better but i need to go for a proper squirt.

what i got was: oil, seal, gas, new valve.

he suggested to give this a go before he put in a spring to suit my weight.

definately more rebound now.

I have a new kawasaki z 750 and got the suspension sorted within the first two weeks I owned it.
I did the front and back so the cost was up with the two front springs,but rebuilding the back shock cost about $175 that includes revalving a special kit they put in and redo the oil. The spring wasn't changed but funy thing I used to have the sping wound all the way to six after the dampning was reset the spring was reset to one .
Have a talk to this bloke he is always ready to help.
For the money it was the best mod I could of done.

went for a squirt last night and almost high sided the farker at 140km/h.

Firstly it felt like my back tyre was flat, then next i know the arse end started kicking up and kicking me off the seat. Shit bricks and rode home on 80km/h. Heart rate at 200000bpm.

I think i need to go 4 a spin to suspensions r us and get them to set it up for me.

By then might take the suspension back to standard spec and play around until i find something i like, then see what they think.

Take it in how it is.. You won't know what was wrong with the settings your running if you don't..

But def get them to set it up for you if your not sure.. Your prob like me, you ride the bike and adjust your riding style to suit, unless you've got something to compare it to you wouldn't know how the bike should actually feel.

another question boys and girls:

for those 7r owners, who has dropped there forks through the triple clamps. i have mine adjusted at standard and i find it hard to turn tight corners.

Should i drop the front or just push harder on the handle bars and hope not to drop the bike :?:

The 7R has a rear ride height adjuster. Use that to steepen the fork angle. If that doesn't work, back off the preload and the compression damping on the front a smidge.

Beyond that, what tyres are you running and how worn are they?

I find it hard to believe that any combination of suspension settings alone could make something as rocksteady as a ZX7 try to highside.

where can i find this rear ride height adjuster?

BT012SS, they have about another 1000km to go in the middle. Pretty squared off actually.
