So I'm riding to uni one morning. Electrical death. But restart while coasting and off I go. 30 minutes later happens again. No warning, just death. This time the electricals don't come back for a few seconds and have to pull off the road. Then on the way home she dies again. This time the electricals don't come back (as in absolutely nothing) and have to call a tow. Now I go down stairs and she is right as rain again. checked the battery connectors, look fine. Fuses look fine. My expertise of electricals is nil. Suggestions? Don't think I wanna ride her again til I know it's not gonna cost me another tow. This is gonna cost me a fortune in car petrol

My approach would be like when you're initially tracing an intermittant fault like that in a electrical device you grab a wooden stick and tap systematically around the board and cables watching/listening for feedback.....
I'd try a similar approach. Best time to try is when it's not working if pos. Turn ignition on and work around your electrical systems moving things and hopefully if/when she comes to life that'll show you the approx location of the problem.

I had a the same thing happen on my 6. In my case it was the wiring loom had rubbed through and was shorting out on the frame. If you look under the riders seat you'll find a cross brace on the sub frame whit nice sharp edgers and that's where mine was shorting. If not start the bike and start wiggling the loom until it plays up then you should be able to isolate the problem. you may also be able to see were the loom has been rubbing on the frame. Good luck
