subframe woes

Postby IrishPete » Mon Aug 10, 2009 7:08 am

Hey guys,

Just looking for opinions here, I managed to bend the subframe on my trackie at the weekend and I'm just wondering if I'd be better off trying to straighten it or just chopping it off and making a custom unit?

Bike is a 1996 zx6r by the way

Straighten it. Piece of piss.
I did Simmos ZX9 a while ago using nothing more than length of rope.

And a house

And a Bullbar.

But it worked out just fine. It was bent out by probably 20 to 25 degrees and after half an hour of stretching and pulling it was back to normal. This of course was the low tech way of doing it. People that charge you money use solid fixing points and call them "Jigs" pffft
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.

I straightened out the front end of my Camry with a tree a fat bit of rope and good old reverse gear! It was great! Wont help you much with this though....
:D

If you've got the ability to make a custom one, I'm pretty sure straightening it will be quite easy.

How good are bullbars. Mine has been used to bend pipe for strainer posts, Pulling out trees, knocking over trees and tying up the dog,
