Gday, what is the difference between say a zx9 B engine to a zx9 E1 engine as they look quiet different from the outside!!!
Was there any weaknesses with the B 900??? Are they as reliable as the later models?? cheers

The B models share almost no parts with the later (C onwards) 900 engines & the mounts are in different positions on the head/crankcases so you can't fit one in place of the other either. The B models had issues with head gaskets in the first year or 2 of their lives but I think most were fixed under warrantee with better gaskets, I haven't heard of or experienced any reliability issues with either the B or C model 9s - both engines truly are a thing of beauty when on song & owning one should be on every motorcycle enthusiasts bucket list. :kuda:

Plus a ZX7 & a few ZXR Ls & ZX9 Bs & Cs in various stages of completion.

What Darren said, plus:
- the peripherals (carbs, etc) are closer on F and C models than E models
- the B engine shares a lot of parts/similarities with earlier zxr750 and GPx750 engines
- a B makes less horsepower (stock) than a C but seems to be reliable enough

What's the plan???
