Front Brake Issue

Postby mgvette57 » Sun Aug 10, 2008 5:59 pm

I was hoping someone may be able to shed some light on an issue i have had with my front brake.

I had the pads and lever changed on Monday

Last night on the way home and again today on the way home it feels like the brake is half on. When i am changing through the lower gears the front of the bike actually dips between changes.

The lever itself when i am having the issue feels rock hard and will only move about 10mm. When it's working normally the lever is quite soft.

The strange part is that it does fix itself after riding for a while without me doing anything to it.

The bike is a GPX750R 88 model and I can see a black mark where it looks like it's constantly rubbing on the right hand side disc while you are on the bike.

Any help would be appreciated and I will be ringing the mechanic that did the work tomorrow but if i have an idea of what the issue may be then he hopefully cannot lie his way out of fixing it for me (preferably free of charge)
Michael

pistons might be sticking if they havent been cleaned for a while, should always clean when installing new pads but i would think any half decent mech would do that though
