Race Clutches

Postby ozten » Mon Feb 25, 2008 3:17 pm

Righto all you gurus someone explain something to me, ive seen on motogp that the bikes get pushed out of the pits to get going and ive heard the commentators say its to save the delicate race clutches, wat makes them so delicate i would of thought being a race bike they would want a heavy duty clutch, wat would happen if they were to pull out of the pits with the clutch???
Life is too short for traffic.

High School physics - An object in motion tends to remain in motion and an object at rest tends to remain at rest unless another force acts upon it
Getting the bike moving from a standstill places heaps of strain and heat through the clutch and they don't operate as well or for as long. It's not that they couldn't do it it's just that there is no need to and it could make that 1/100th of a second difference at the end of a close race

I'm still trying to find how any of that is humourous... Did I miss something?
