Cooper 6R wrote:Hey there

Go the vortex chain and sprocket kit. i bought the same one through the same shop. great people. I had a 15 tooth front 40 tooth back and now 14 front 42 back and loving it. now she gets up first gear under power(power wheelie) and im playing with it all the way through 2nd. im going to try sitting right back and popping it in third i recon it will come up. still getting useto the differance in power although.

I rang the shop for a price on installing it, they said $70 an hour, I said @*#@%$ $70 #@$% dollars. then i asked how much for a chain breaker, they said $20 i said sold.
2 hours latter i was riding around looking like a grease monkey whith a big smile on me dial.

You cant go wrong. it took about a week to get here but worth the wait. Here is a pic

Cheers

Good hits Cooper, looks Good!

After all the conversations i had with people i nearly chickened out of going the whole 14/42 and was leaning toward the safer 14/40, not anymore!

I was tossing up whether to get the back sprocket teflon coated also, don't really know how much longer it will make the sprocket last though..

with the whole throwing the speedo out, just have to make sure i ride 5km's below the speed limit when there's a speed camera round i suppose!

i'm getting it when i get paid this weekend, but don't know whether its worth leaving it till next year, as postage from america this time of year might take ages... ??

arr sorry to disapoint. if you have a ZX600-J. they have a Non- Contact Hall IC Type Speed Sensor. witch has a speed sensor on the sprocket case. as the big nut spins the sensor picks up the rev of the nut corners. a little computer thing dose the rest and displays it on the speedo.

My speedo is out by 10kmh at 100kmh, or make it 10% of whatever speed your doing.. the revs go up to 6000rpm at 100kmh up by 500rpm, but all so worth it. make sure you know what gear your in all the time. i found my self thinking im in second but am in third. after a little while you get the hang of it. It's a little like riding a new bike, It's like your misses getting a boob job, you have to get useto your babe all over again.

And over, and over, and over, sorry got carryed away.

judging by the manual, the F model was the last of the front wheel gear driven speedos, sensor after that.

Yep i'm on a 1996 ZX6R, think it is the F model.

I've got the hanes workshop manual at home, should tell me where the sensor is..

But geezz speedo being 10% off is huge!
showing 110 after only 100km's is a lot, especially if you plan on selling the bike..

I thought it might only be off by 2 or 3% ..

But if your right SnypR then it shouldn't be a problem for me on my old school ride. :D :D :D
