do i loctite the sprocket?

im replacing a front sprocket on the track bike and i assume i apply loctite to the thread when i do it up.
is that correct?

if thats the go should i use the super strength or is the medium strength ok?

the sprockets were recently replaced on this bike and the goose who did it has threaded the nut so believe it or not the nut actually fell off.
i imagine that could of ended quite badly

what bike is this? is it one of the ones where theres two bolts holding the sprocket in place? or is it one where theres a big fuggoff nut on the shaft itself and you use a bendy washer to hold it in place?

either way i'd say a dab of med strength loctite would be more than adequate, after all you DO want it to come apart again at least once in the future.

My ZX6 racer has just a large nut, and I have never, ever, ever used loctiite on it and it has never ever ever loosened or come off. Matter of fact, the first time you screw the throttle on, the nut will tighten itself so it can barely be removed any how!!!!

on loctite, when i changed the front rotors yesterday i only used the blue(med) stuff and not the red(hard) that was already on the rotor bolts, is this a big deal, will it do?

there was none on the caliper bolts, should there be?

+1. My old Z1000 only has a big nut on the end of the output shaft as well, but it does have the washer that folds over the nut to lock it into place. Its never fallen off.

Its just a single nut.
but the washer is gone - i guess from when the nut fell off - or maybe the pelican who put on the new sprockets didnt even use it...

It really frustrating cause i was going to ride this bike today at the track - was going to get a sneaky half day in to get used to the bike before next saturdays KSRC race day.
