Clutch replacement- OEM plates, Barnett springs, feels great

Guys

I'm replacing the clutch on my 97 ZX9R due to slipping and judder. The bike's done 36000km, I suspect previous owners may have been lacking in mechanical sympathy, to put it politely.

Frictions look like they've been replaced before and the steels are looking munted and concrete-scratched up too so I'll do the lot including springs. The basket still looks OK.

Now, OEM parts are looking quite expensive, Cosways quoted me $378 for steels, frictions and springs.

http://www.rbdrace.com.au can get me a barnett set for cheaper (not sure exact price just yet but should be significantly better than the OEMs.)

Anybody have an opinion on the barnett clutch plates? Their springs are pretty well regarded - how about the plates?

OEM is the way to go for fibres.

You can go aftermarket with basket, steels and springs.

I use barnett friction plates and springs and sandblasted steels. works a treat and i'm pumping out 217hp at the wheel. There is a guy in peakhurst area that does your old plates. apparantly very good and not expensive. he advertises in AMCN.

FYI, I ended up going for OEM plates with Barnett springs.

The clutch has felt absolutely fantastic from the first start. Smooth, responsive, and grabs like a 15-year-old boy in the shower.

Where the clutch used to slip and grab intermittently, it now launches the front wheel skywards in a controllable and slick fashion. Ex....cellent.

....aaaaaand all the money I saved by doing the work myself (including replacing some bastard seals on the transmission cover, jesus that's a shit job) was pissed right up against the wall when I got busted for wheelying on my 10 minute test ride.... Grooooan. $140 and no points, thank christ. Ah well, you can't put a price on learning eh?

I had std steels, goodridge friction plates and barnett springs... worked a treat.
The Goodridge springs didn't quite cut it and would slip..

lol i rode all the way to bris to get some tyres from mick cause they were cheap as (380 for a set of powers) ... on the way home i got done for 130 in a 110 zone, so there goes like 150 bucks or something and 3 points .. totally didnt even save a cent .. cost me more haha.

so i know your pain :P
