Exactly what Mitch (and others) said, no back pressure may be good for top end but will cruel the bottom and mid range.
If you want to hear something REALLY wicked drop the cans off any GPX/ZZR 250 and listen to the sucker HOWL. You will have to ride it but otherwise the noise is just TOO loud, not so bad behind you. I guarentee you have heard nothing like it this side of MotoGp or F1.
It sounds like the air is ripping (Anyone been to F1 knows what I mean).
Just because you CAN ride, doesn't mean you SHOULD

I ran my gpx with one of its cans not connected, As only one pair of cyl's were muffled it had an off-beat sound about it and sounded like a very meaty stockcar just off idle.

Man it was too loud, but i had one hell of a grin on my face.

Ex Zacahry what I meant mike
The noise is INCREDIBLE when you think it is only made by two itty bitty 125cc cylinders. I could only work it out as the pitch that made it so DAMN loud. It was a bit like the Kwaks and WCM used to be in MotoGP, ie piercing as well as loud. AND the noise went a LONG way too.

on the weekend a 6r pulled up at the natural arch (gold coast) and it only had a small dump pipe exiting just pasr the lower fairing
the bike looked to be an 05/06 so im asuming there may be a cat converter down there somewhere as well but this bike wasnt loud at idle and wasnt untill he opened it was it loud... this bike sounded like no other bike ive heard b4, and it was great!

Was it one of these?

ahh, well as mine was a 750, so 2x 187cc (of four) pots mufflerless, even MORE sweet.

IMO If you run no muffler on the street you deserve to get shot while riding. I fucking hate those harleys with no mufflers. They sound shit too.

i think yoshi or akra make 'em ..

as for running with no or amodified zorst, beware of stuffing the whole show, as it will alter the rich/lean business and give some awesome flat spots.. so when it does all come together you are left with WOW! this thing flies! when it is really going slower but noisier.
i've done this a thousand times and no-ones ever been hurt. much.

ahhh, the old slashcut.

Something a bloke over here did to his bike about 2 bikes ago (so that would make it about 9 months).

Image

he ended up making his own shorty can instead following these instructions:
