Im thinking of deresticting the beast. Cost around $400. Im goin to get more power and smother response on , off throttle, but would like to know does this kill motors? Bad Fuel economy? Do i need to change filters...etc.
Any advice would be great. Has anybody done this b4?

Its a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 2003.

If you are talking about a TRE doesn't it just give you the same ignition curve as 5th for all 6 cogs? I would have thought it would give you better economy as you'll get a more efficient burn. As long as you can control your wrist :twisted:

i think 5th has a leaner fuel map also so lower gears will now run slightly hotter around town but crisper response also.
use engine ice coolant if it is a problem and maybe wire switch to use thermo fan at stop/slow speeds.

its worth having a look at the osb site (OzSportsBikes) - there are a number of gixxer pilots who have all done this, they will give you all the info you need mate.

umm if ur gix1000 dont have enuf power u could always get a zx10r....
