Bastard Airbox...

My 7 keeps lunching plugs or 'plug' as it would seem.

After being stung for transporting and replacement last time I figured I'd just pull the tank off, gap and file the plugs and see if it ran okay. So my question is how do I get the freakin' airbox off. It doesn't seem to be attached to any thing other than the gizmo at the front and I don't really want to pull on the box too hard 'cause when I do the carbs move as well.

Surely someone will know, yes?

Welcome mate, straight into it then huh?
I assume you git the tank off already, if not let us know because thats the hardest bit
You've got to open the air box to get it off. There are five bolts around the edge of the box, plus two in the centre.
Once these are off, you need to slip off the largeish hose from the front of the lid. It sholud just lift of then.
Remove the foam eliment as well. Down between the rubber trumpets are three gold bolts with little shielding washers. These bolts attach to the carby mount plate. Now the whole box will should lift out with the drain hose attached.

Yeah, I'm straight in 'cause I've had the tank off since last weekend and it's been driving me nuts trying to figure out how to get the airbox off. At one stage I had those bolts out but I put them back in! I was thinking about it in terms of a racebike and figured there would have to be a quick way to get it on and off.

Yeah thanks blokes, I pulled the airbox off no problems on Satdee, cleaned and gapped the plugs (one was a bit oily) then stuck it all back together. After a little swearing to get the snorkle bits back in place the whole thing went back together rather easily, I'd even vacuumed the damned thing. Anyway, I thumb the starter and - NOTHING - just a click click from the starter. Bastard.

So I did what anyone would do and walked away. Moving like I was going back into the house I quickly turned, jumped on and thumbed the starter - I must have caught the bike napping 'cause it started. It still runs rough but a mate who works on a drag car reckons I should just replace all the plugs and work back from there. Sadly I can't do it this weekend 'cause I have to go to a wedding. Might try to sneak it in one night after work next week.

Recon I'll give some of those Denso Irridium plugs a go...

If one pug keeps fouling I would be relacing al the plugs and looking at the lead to see if its arking through the boot or something...possibly loose at the coil end.
